Wow Bob, what a great column!! You are absolutely right - it is genius! As I get to be one of the older (and older and older) workers' at my office, it is amazing how some of these life skills - things that I took for granted after being raised by a mom, dad and 3 big brothers - were woefully missing from some of my young peers. Courtesy, pride in a job well done, and heck, just plain being polite! I remember when I was in high school and for Christmas Dan got he and I tickets to the Nutcracker - and at the performance I ran into a friend and chatted for a minute or two while Dan stood next to me. After a couple of minutes Dan spoke up and said "Hi so and so, I'm Jennifer's brother Dan" When she walked away Dan read me the riot act - but in a very calm and convincing manner. He explained that it is very rude not to introduce the person you're with, and that it makes them feel very awkward just standing there while you chat with someone else. At first I was miffed - I was 16, what wasn't I miffed at?? - but you know what, after I thought about it and recalled some situations where the same thing had happened to me, I don't think I have ever failed to introduce someone again! It was one of a number of lessons Dan taught me - along with numerous lessons you and Steve taught me (Like algebra and riding a subway!) - and I believe that it is our responsibility to pass these little acts/courtesies along, not only to our own kids, but to their friends. I am rambling, but really, I just wanted to tell you what a great column you wrote and what a great issue you addressed - love you, Jen

Bob--Loved it!! What a great (and sweet) article--PS did you realize that the Pony Express is celebrating its 150th anniversary. It is a big deal in St. Joe and the theme for the school year for George--our youngest. I thought of you when his teacher sent his back to school letter and she began the letter with "Howdy Partner"!!
Hope Josh is doing better...and that you all have stayed healthy yourselves.
Love,
Jennie
